Seasonal Home Blocks

Last week I got together with some friends and we made seasonal home blocks!  Pretty much I just love blocks with words on them.  These blocks are a little different because the "O" in "home" is a different symbol for each season.  I really love how they turned out!

This is what they look like, however, the block with the pumpkin also has these symbols on each side:

It's such a fun project that can be displayed all year!  I have seen people do a symbol for each month, but I'm not too good at remembering to change these types of things.  I figured I could at least remember to change the "O" block each season :).

My blocks are each 3x3 in.  I sanded them, painted them white, distressed the edges and applied the vinyl letters and symbols (we used a Silhouette to cut them out).  Easy and so fun!  The sun is actually my favorite, I may just leave it up all year long :).  I'm still trying to decide if I like displaying these blocks next to each other horizontally, or stacked vertically.  They look pretty cute either way!

  1. Great idea for the seasons. I did some several years ago with Joy and Noel for Christmas but love the idea of seasons too.

  2. This is such a cute idea, love it! Might make one this weekend but going by our weather I may as well use rain drops for each season!

  3. Where did you buy the blocks? Michaels and then paint them? Or are they old blocks that you re-purposed?

I would love for you to share this mommy solution on my meme! http://www.crystalandcomp.com/2011/07/the-mommy-club-share-your-resources-and-solutions/

  5. What a great idea! I love that the only block that needs changed out is the seasonal one! I would also like to know where you found the blocks. This would make a cute gift for my mom. (I'll also make one for myself.)
