T-shirt Makeover

I'm always seeing cute upcycled t-shirt tutorials and i always think "i could do that."  So i finally did it!  I had a t-shirt in my closet which i never wear because it is all stretched out.   I have been wanting to change it but wasn't sure exactly what i wanted to do... ruffles, flowers, bows, etc....  It was a hard decision to make!  I was finally inspired by this tutorial on Happy Together.  I loved the bow!

Here is what I came up with and a basic tutorial of how I did it.  It was seriously so simple!  You could honestly do the whole thing in an hour.  The most difficult part was putting the elastic in.  But other than that, super easy.

Just a few tips, cut your fabric & make sure it doesn't fray.  If it does, you will have to finish the edges.  Luckily mine didn't fray, so I didn't have to finish the edges of the bow.  Also, I sewed the bow in place.

The reason I put the elastic in the side was to make the shirt more fitted.  You don't have to do that step if you don't want.  Also, you could easily make this same look by using 2 tank tops, use the extra tank top to create the bow.  A lot less sewing involved that way.

Good luck!
