Patriotic Rag Wreath

Sorry it has been a while since I blogged!  I've been out of town for the past 10 days... I had a family reunion, a funeral, and a wedding to attend.  Luckily while I was visiting my family the girls all got together and had a craft night.  We decided to make these cute patriotic rag wreaths!  It was a lot of fun to get together and all bring different kinds of fabric to share.

Ever since I saw this St. Patrick's Day Wreath over at the Magic of Ordinary Things, I knew I had to make one!  I decided on a patriotic wreath because I had lots of red, white & blue fabric left over from the rag quilt I made a while ago.  I then shared the idea with my family and they all wanted to make one too.

It's pretty easy.  Just bend a wire hanger into a circle and tie lots of strips of fabric around the hanger.  The strips of fabric were 1 in. x 7 in.  I then added a bow and ta da!  Easy!  I can't wait to hang it on my door as my first patriotic craft of the summer.  I would recommend either doing it with friends or putting in a movie while you make it... you've gotta have something to entertain you while you tie all those knots!

  4. I Love this! And I love the fact that it's a little more cost-friendly that ribbon. I have a big bow on my door this year, but would love to replace it next year...think I'll start keeping my out for marked down fabric to use to make it! Thanks for the great idea!
